Ovarian Cancer Symposium 2011
The Ovarian Cancer Alliance of California and Memorial Hospital of Modesto will host the Ovarian Cancer Symposium on Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., at the Memorial Hospital Education Center located in McHenry Village, 1700 McHenry Avenue, Suite 60B, Modesto. The goal of the symposium is to provide educational information to local healthcare professionals and to the community on the signs, symptoms and risks of Ovarian Cancer.
The symposium will be held in two sessions. The morning session will be directed towards healthcare professionals. Memorial Hospital has partnered with us to provide the much needed CME units for this topic. The afternoon session will be for survivors and community members, with an emphasis on wellness after the diagnosis of ovarian cancer.
The keynote speaker will be former Central Valley Gynecologic Oncologist Dr. Babak Edraki. For many years Dr. Edraki was the only Gynecologic Oncologist in the valley, so we are fortunate he has agreed to speak specifically on emerging and up to date standards of care for Ovarian Cancer.
At this time, several speakers are being arranged to speak on the updated treatments and chemotherapy for ovarian cancer. Additionally, a primary speaker is being arranged to speak to our community component. She will speak on women's wellness including hormone replacement and issues dealing with post ovarian cancer diagnosis and treatment. Finally, we will have an ovarian cancer survivor who will speak on survivorship.
